Bertie was the model of my first newborn photoshoot. At just under 6 weeks old, Bertie was awake for most of the afternoon and I had to work with his mood and try and get poses as he did them as he didn't want to be moved about.
I loved the challenge of working with Bertie and we managed to get some real cute poses, the best of which were after the shoot when we were just relaxing and his Mum was holding him and talking to him.
In all poses I made sure his mum was either holding Bertie, or very close by. For the basket shots, the bottom of the basket was weighted with about 5 kg to make the basket more stable.
I also made the room 28C and even at this temperature, between shots or poses we found that covering him up with a blanket worked really well to keep him calm.
Most shots were taken with natural light, only turning to flashes when the light dropped. Camera settings were in Manual, F2.8, 1/200 (with flash) and ISO50 - 100. Without flash i just lowered the shutter speed a little.
Thank you to Katherine and Freddie for allowing me to photograph Baby Bertie and for allowing me to share a few photos with everyone, I'm looking forward to the cake smash party next year!
I can't wait until the next newborn shoot and should you like to book your session with me, please contact email@example.com
